Hello, friends! Today I have a fun interactive card to share with you.

This slimline milestone card features a simple pull-tab mechanism that creates a little surprise for the recipient. When the tab is pulled, the number 6 moves into place beside the 0 to create 60, while revealing a hidden sentiment underneath.

I created this card for a 60th birthday, but I think this interactive design could easily be adapted for other milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or special celebrations.

I also love that this design gives you an opportunity to look at your supplies a little differently. The patterned paper I used on this masculine card actually came from a Christmas collection!

You can watch the detailed YouTube tutorial here. For your convenience I’ve gathered all available supplies used in today’s project and also included a detailed list of tools I use regularly at the end of the blog post for your reference:

Finished Card Size: 3½” x 8½”

Measurements

  • Card base: 3½” x 8½”
  • Matting layer panel: 3½” x 8½”
  • Patterned paper panel: 3¼” x 8¼”
  • Aperture: Use a die size to fit your sentiment

The interactive mechanism is designed so that the number 6 moves toward the 0 when the pull tab is activated. At the same time, a hidden sentiment—“Celebrating You on Your 60th”—is revealed through the aperture.

I added a few white floral elements and touches of gold to the card front for some extra interest, along with stars and flat-back embellishments for a little sparkle and shine.

Here is a look at the simple version of the finished card:

One of my favourite things about this design is that the concept can easily be adapted. Simply changing the numbers and sentiment would allow you to create cards for other milestone birthdays and celebrations.

Here is a more elaborate version of the pull-tab structure:
